I think I WANT a Car...!!

Cars have been the love of my life since before I knew what love or life was or is actually. I've often found myself dreaming, day-dreaming about cars I want to drive... & also how do I go about showing Off those precious machines. I have invested a lot of time reading about these machines & looking for that dream machine that I would finally own one day... My first car...!!

I learned driving in an old Premier Padmini, my father's car, 1985 model if I remember correctly. This was basically a FIAT 1100D made by Premier Automobiles Limited(now Premier). Although this was not as loved or famous as the original FIAT but it was the same thing...! People still call it FIAT & it was good, at least when it was first launched few decades back. But a good car to learn driving in. Since then I've driven a lot of cars & the experience totaly different.

I like FIAT cars & may be have a thing or 2 for any car with a FIAT badge....! But the nearer I get to buy my very own car, with my very own money things become difficult. A lot of thinking with regards to fuel price, comfort, safety, peer pressure seems to crop up from No-Where...! To solve this very confusion I test drove few cars & will be test driving few more cars in the next few weeks & decide which one of those lucky machines will get to be my First...!!!!

More on test drives coming soon on the Cars.. page of this blog..!!!

Kolkata Rain & Oxford Umbrella...!

It was raining here in Kolkata and reminded me about a similar evening about a month ago. I had just got free from work and was heading home. I usually hire a taxi just outside the hotel but this day I could find none. So I walked... walked till Park Street where I had some hopes of finding one. I stood there amongst a lot of other people looking for a taxi which would finally take me back home. It was drizzling and the weather was nice... I would've loved the weather but I was tired and longed for the comfort of my bed waiting back home. The street was busy with a lot of cars and other taxis. Most of the taxis which passed by were full. There were quite a few which were empty and did stop by... An impatient look was adorned by most of these taxi drivers... and upon hearing 'Dada Lansdowne', their faces turned back to the road, the engine roared and the taxi glided through the wet Park Street in no time as if I wanted to cross the border .... It was almost an hour that I was waiting... I could wait no longer and did not want to take that metro of the by gone era... plus the rain had made the weather beutiful so I decided to enjoy the same and walk down to my home...!... with passing time the rain god became more generous with the pour and I desperately needed an Umbrella....! There I was standing in front of the Oxford book store in Park Street.... I went in and asked for one.... gave my oxford membership card and asked them to redeem the point in exchange for an umbrella...! I was in a hurry and did not look at the umbrella while purchasing it....! Happy and relieved I walked out of the store.... took the umbrella out and opened it.... Oh! i forgot... while opening the umbrella I was very much distracted or maybe attracted (not very sure of...) by the pleasant sight of few girls enjoying the down pour...... My eyes were stuck... ears gone deaf.... and then there was a soft music playing in the background.... It was... Hmmm... breath taking..! Then for a moment it seemed as if they were smiling at me.... that wicked smile...! But soon my eyes opened up to reality and the music seemed to die with a sad note...! It was then I realized that they were not smiling but laughing.....! Laughing at me....! I was taken for a shock...! Music did come back... but this time it was like some glass had broken right below my ears....! I looked up.... it was my Oford Umbrella.... Red and White... with Oxford Bookstore written and few cartoons of animals....! .... It was the most embarrasing moment of my life...! I bought an Umbrella which had colours which look good if used by .. the feminine sex.... and the pictures... for children....! But it did work as any Umbrella should.... Thank God...! I did not've much of an option left but to start walking and keep walking between the shadows till I reached home....! It was only after half an hour that I managed to reach home enjoying the lovely rain and the beautiful city of Kolkata.....!
